RITA NICHOLAS KING

Rita Nicholas King is an industrial photographer for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. She has been employed as a photographer for Habitat for Humanity, the Atlanta Voice newspaper, the City of Atlanta Department of Environments and Streets, the Atlanta Board of Education, the Atlanta Clean City Commission, the Atlanta Bureau of Cultural Affairs, the Institute for the Study of African Culture, and the Historic District Development Corporation. She also became skilled in many areas of video production through what is now known as People TV.

As a senior member of the Multi Media department, more than twenty-five years with Lockheed Martin have taught her valuable lessons lost on most photographers; those of attention to detail, time management, and accountability for quality work. While the greatest portion of her time has been spent documenting the production of military aircraft including the C-130J and the F-22 Raptor, she has also photographed aircraft models, race cars, and new model vehicles in Lockheed Martin’s Low Speed Wind Tunnel. In addition, she has worked with construction companies covering major building and renovation projects. Her images have appeared in various trade magazines including Code One, Aviation Week, the Atlanta Tribune, and Dixie Contractor.

Three years ago Little Five Points icon, Bond Credit Union, selected one of her night images as part of their 2005 calendar, and in a January 2006 review of Sistagraphy’s “Food for the Soul” exhibit at Converse College, one of her images was described as “Impressionistic” by Greenville News arts writer, Ann Hicks. In June 2008, Rita’s photo of the first Norwegian C-130J Super Hercules was proudly displayed on a billboard in Times Square as Lockheed Martin rolled out the first of four aircraft that will be delivered to Norway, and two of her photographs were selected by Fay Gold for the “Women in Focus XV Juried Exhibition.”

She is currently a member of the Atlanta Photography Group, Sistagraphy, and Women in Focus and began exhibiting her images in 2004. Her exhibits include:
